Dear SMS Parents

No bus services this afternoon (Jan 15th, 2020) and tomorrow morning
Please note when wind chill at 6:30 a.m. is -40 C or colder according to Environment Canada (https://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/sk-40_metric_e.html), Misbah School Buses are  cancelled entire day. In cases of warmer afternoons and bus technical issue, we will contact you.

Regarding to recess expectations for winter

1.    Students must come dressed appropriately for winter weather .

2.    It remains a parents duty to ensure their child is dressed correctly for the weather.

“It's very important to check that they are wearing mitts, a scarf, warm coat, boots and something on their head.” (SPSD Severe Weather)   

3.    No student remains inside on a regular basis during recess time.

4.    Those students regularly unprepared for recess do not get an indoor recess break.

Various consequences may include a call home and work period at recess

This year Science Competition 2019-2020 took place on December 18, 2019 at IS GYM. Our students researched and presented wide range of subjects they have chosen including quantum physics, AI Technology, Muslim physicians in history, sleep studies, chemical reactions activation monitoring by food dies and many others. A special medal to the students who were  in the 1st Place, 2nd Place and 3rd place celebrating their achievement in science will be given in forthcoming assembly. Field trips require significant planning and coordination for teachers and administrators. Starting September 2019, we have already completed 21 field trips with the help of supervising volunteer parents, many more field trips are in our agenda in coming months. Both SMS team and our parents will continue to support field trips our students' truly educational experiences that cannot be get in the confines of the classroom.

January 10, 2020

In December 2019 our students donated more than $2000 for their friend, a former SMS student Ahmed Sulub who was in a Toronto Hospital more than a year for an aggressive form of cancer treatment. The good news is that he is going back to school next week and will be on a less intense form of treatment. Ms. Jama, Sulub's mom thanks SMS community for money, time and kindness. 

Donations will go towards helping his mother  to take care of Sulub and his siblings.

Dear SMS Families,

Each month here at Saskatoon Misbah School we focus on one Islamic value and how those values make us stronger. For the month of December, we have chosen the important value of charity. The Prophet has said Charity does not decrease wealth.  When we give  whether it be money, time, kindness, or love  we gain so much more. We should all strive to show more charity in our lives.

This December, SMS will be showing charity and support to one of our very own students who is in great need. Sulub was a student here at SMS when he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. His mother was forced to make the decision to move their family to Toronto for the next few years so that Sulub could receive the very best medical care possible. This has been a difficult and expensive journey for his mother, Anab. Dear SMS Parents,                                                                                                                             

Please, carefully read this letter regarding traffic safety. It applies to everyone.

In the first month and a half of school, we have seen a lot of inconsistency in how students dropped-off. Some days go by with little to no concern while other days there are several concerns related to improper drop-off and disregard to student safety.
